Friday's Fave Five

YAY!!!!  It's Friday.  Friday is the day of the week we look back at the week and talk about five things we are thankful for.  If you are new here and want to play along, you can find all the details here.  Be sure to add your website to Mr.Linky, and visit others who participate in this also.

1.  Friday's.  No matter how great our week was, it's always a relief when Friday gets here because it's the start to your week-end.  I'm especially thankful for this weekend in that it is the last weekend before my surgery.

2.  Nurses.  I've been thinking about this A LOT during all my doctor and hospital visits.  No matter how great your doctor's are, it's really your nurses that make your experiences.  They are the ones who are actually taking care of you 90% of the time.  And I must say...the nurses I've had during this whole experience have been AWESOME.  They've spent so much time with me, answering questions, making follow up calls to make sure I'm feeling OK, and just being tremendous blessings to me throughout this process.

3.  Baking.  Baking has been my escape.  It's my quiet time.  My time to talk to God while creating delicious food.  Give me a whisk and some prayer time and I'm good to go!

4.  The weather.    It's been so beautiful outside.  I LOVE being able to sit on my back patio in the evenings, curl up under a blanket, and read while the kids are playing in the yard.

5.  My husband.  I know he is in my 5 almost every week, but I seriously can't praise him enough right now.  He's taking on so much more responsibility around the house.  Any time I ask him to do something for me, he drops what he is doing and does it.  Through this process I've really had a lot of anxiety about how it will affect my kids, but he's been switching off every Friday and taking one of them to go do something one-on-one with him, and then on Saturday's taking them all to do something out of the house so I can get some extra rest.  It's hard for me to not be able to be there for my kids 110% right now, and he's just really stepped up to the plate with giving them that extra attention that I normally give them.  This process has just affirmed to me how strong we are as a unit.

I hope you all have a blessed weekend.

If you're from the Winslow area and will be going to the community fest this weekend, be sure to stop by the bake sale booth my mom and grandma are setting up to benefit Dawnetta.  I'm making the blueberry crumb bread for it! :)  We still don't have any real answers as to why her eye sight is not returning.  She does have another appointment with the neurologist in Indy soon.  So, please, keep her in your prayers as well!

  1. I'm with you on baking. Instead of being quiet, though, I like to blast the praise music and sing at the top of my lungs.

    Praying about your surgery.

  2. Hmmm, maybe if I include prayer into my baking I would enjoy it more. I love to eat baking but so don't enjoy the process. Love to cook though.

Praise God for great hubbies and nurses who really know how to minister to their patients.

  4. You are right about the nurses, for sure. So glad the ones you've had are so special.

I'll be praying for you during this next step....and also for your husband and kids.

    Blessings

  5. This may sound strange since this is the first time I've visited your blog, but I'm in tears reading your posts. You've got all of this going on, yet you're keeping things "normal" for your kids, and it sounds like you've got a great husband taking care of you. You will definitely be in my prayers. I'm praying that everything goes well for you.

  6. Hmm... when I bake, I've always been in a hurry to get it done. I never thought about it being a time to pray and praise and meditate on the Lord. I'm going to put this into practice!

I'm glad you are blessed with a husband that is such a help to you!

  7. I smiled when I read your baking. There are some things that send you into a meditation, dishes do it for me.

Yes, your right about the nurses. We saw that first hand this week with my daughter having emergency surgery. I hope all goes well for you.

I think I need more time to pray... I will include you this week and your family as well.
    God bless

  8. So glad you are getting good care from the nurses and that your husband is being a great help too. I'm sure it makes a huge difference in your outlook and in your improvement. I really like Fridays too even though I don't work :0)

  9. I'm so glad you had good nurses and a loving hubby to take good care of you. I love how you said you could include your husband in your Fave Five's each week. I could say the same thing about mine! I hope you have a great weekend with lots of sunshine for you to enjoy on your patio.

  10. I think everyone has one calming activity that becomes meditative and allows you to just pray while you do it. I'm glad you've found yours. You truly are blessed with such a great husband!
