Back2Blogging - Why Do You Blog?

I'm participating in the SITS Girls Back2Blogging event.

Back2Blogging challenge #5....why do you blog?

For me it's a number of reasons.

It's the easiest way to keep family who live far away informed with the happenings in our lives.  I can write one entry, and they can all read it opposed to spending hours on the phone re-telling the same story 20 times.

Now, I realize that may sound a little on the lazy side, but when you have 4 kids, a husband, a dog, and a house to take care of...time is limited!

I blog to keep track of every day mundane things we do.  I want to be able to look back one day, and have these memories documented.  All the funny things the kids say and do.  The fun things we do as a family.

I blog to keep my sanity!  I love being a stay at home mom, but sometimes it gets lonely not having the adult interactions you have when you work outside of the home.  When you blog, you get to virtually interact with other moms who  you wouldn't have otherwise met, and who understand the up's and down's of doing the most challenging job in the world.

Blogging is a form of personal therapy for me.  If I'm having a bad day, I can come here, write about it, and let it go...instead of keeping it all bottled up inside.

It's MY time to talk...without interruption or having to explain myself.  If someone is not interested in what I write about, they have the option to not read it.  If they are interested, then they join in the discussion by dropping a comment.  It's really a win-win situation.

So, those are the main reasons I blog.

What are yours?

  1. I blog for reasons similar to yours. I enjoy the "me" time. I love to cook. I enjoy the challenge of finding new recipes for my blog and discussing them with other adults. I do love discussing food with my 16-month-old, but responses other than "mama" and "uh-oh" are nice every now and then. :)

  2. I don't have kids but I have a lot of other craziness in my life and I totally agree with you. I blog to cling to whatever shreds of my sanity I've still got.

  3. I just read your blog to keep up on you and the family. Wish there was someway I could take all your troubles away, visited with your mom last evening as she was getting ready for the bake sale.
